We're back! Jude and mommy spent a week in Taber doing lots of fun stuff. There are lots of pictures to share, so keep scrolling down,
it's a long blog.
it's a long blog.
Jude had been waiting for weeks to make his new pajamas with Gramma, so that was pretty much first on the list of things to do in Taber.
Here's the finished product. He made (well Gramma made) 3 new pairs of pj's and Jude loved them so much he sometimes put on 2 at a time. I think the Cars pjs are his favourite as you'll see them in a few pictures!
Here he is ready to picnic with Gramma in the basement.
I know this shot is a little blurry, but it is probably because I was laughing while taking it. Jude had specifically hiked up his pajamas and wanted a picture.
There was a lot of crafting as well during the week. Here's Jude with his puppets.
Making egg carton caterpillars.
Sunprints. (You just put paper cut-outs over coloured construction paper and the sun fades out the colour around them.)
Building a race car with Papa.
The finished product.
Painting pet rocks.
All of Jude's rock friends.
Some facepainting.
Mr. Mad Moustache.
Crazy.
Then there was lots of outside fun. Here we are cleaning the carrots. Jude was not particularly fond of farm labour, but we're working on it.
Here's Gramma beside all her dill.
Jude preferred this type of outside work, whacking Gramma with a pool noodle.
Then there was some golfing. Papa's grass is just like a golf green!
General, Papa and Gramma watching the golfer.
From golfing to swimming.
Getting General all wet.
Splash.
A trip to Taber is never complete without a wiener roast.
Jude did some cooking inside too. Well, he mostly just ate dough...lots of dough. Gramma thought that maybe she added a few pounds to Jude over the week we were there. She weighed him when he got there (35lbs) and then weighed him on the last day. He weighed 35lbs...not even an ounce more. It was not due to lack of trying on Gramma's part!
We went on a lot of adventures too. Jude was so excited to sit in his new booster seat in Papa's truck.
We went and saw some wheat fields.
Some sunflower fields.
Some more sunflowers.
More adventures in Papa's truck and this time Jude had a front seat view!
We went fishing. Here's Papa showing Jude how to cast.
Fisherman Jude.
Papa should have given me more casting lessons, as I ended up losing Jude's blue fish (that came with the fishing rod) so we improvised and tied a stick to the end. Look closely and you'll see what I like to call Jude's "fish stick".
Then it was time to set sail the SS Taber. Jude's boat from last year.
And of course, throw some rocks.
Apparently it was too much excitement for Gramma and she fell asleep. As you'll notice she was in charge of holding monkey, the backpack, and all the rocks we were collecting. That could tire a person out :)
We also went strawberry picking.
Jude loved smelling the strawberries.
Here he is hiding in all the flowers with Gramma.
Time to wash them all up.
And eat them too!
A sink full of strawberries.
They made a super pie.
Then Miss Emerson came to visit Jude.
The played bubbles together.
Had some tea.
And then Jude took her for a ride. It was the cutest thing ever to watch them ride around the yard. Jude was a true gentlemen and went nice and slow. (Papa said the he didn't think it was possible for Jude's trike to go slow.)
What a sweetheart!
Here's what Jude really wishes he could drive Emerson around in. Maybe in about 12 years.
We had really nice weather while we were there, but we also had some thunderstorms roll through. I love the sky in this shot, and you almost NEVER see the flag not blowing in the wind there.
This is my favourite picture from our trip. General and Jude are great buddies.
Thank you Gramma and Papa for another excellent summer vacation. Jude may not have gained any weight, but I sure did. Gramma cooked up amazing meals every day with lots of fresh vegetables from Papa's garden (and then there were the poppyseed noodles, the donuts, homemade marshmallows, puffed wheat cake, and the list goes on and on). Jude and I had a wonderful time. Missing you already.
Hope all your summer vacations are as much fun.
