What's up doc?

We went to see Jude's new pediatrician yesterday about his allergies. Her name is Dr. Roxanne Goldade, and she was very helpful and had lots of answers to our questions. Jude has severe allergies, she kept calling him an atopic kid, but with vitamins and keeping his environments safe we shouldn't run into any problems.

We will be weaning Jude to soy milk, as per Dr. Goldade's recommendations. We start by putting some milk on his arm to see if there is a reaction. We wait to see if he gets a scratch somewhere and then we place it on the scratch, and wait and see if he reacts. If he doesn't react to either of those we put a little on his lip, and then from there he should be safe. He can be on the soy formula until he's 2. Dr. Goldade will see him again in 2 months, and will send him for retesting for his allergies in a year. We were happy to find out that we had the one of the best allergist in the city give Jude his test, Dr. Goldade can't even get her patients in to see him and was wondering how we got in!

She was hesitant to say that he will grow out of his milk allergy until after 2 - 3 years of age, and probably never the peanut. She also predicts that he will have asthma, as it is very common in kids with Jude's kind of allergies. Other than his allergies he's in great health. He's 19 lbs and 29 inches and growing.

Let's keep our fingers crossed he's not allergic to soy!

so "atopic" means allergic.... sounds to me like Jude is a very lucky little man to have a mom like he has.... making him special food etc.
just don't hurt those beautiful lips with the soy milk!!!!!
