But Jude is VERY allergic to milk and peanuts. We will now be carrying an epipen for Jude, as he's anaphylactic to both milk and peanuts. It's not the news we were hoping for, but the doctor said that 85% of children outgrow the milk allergy anywhere from 2 years to 8 years old. Unfortunately only 2% of children ever outgrow the peanut allergy.
The doctor said that if another child was ever to dump a glass of milk on Jude that he could have an anaphylactic reaction, as well as milk kisses on his lips. Jude hasn't had any peanuts so the doctor's not sure exactly how reactive he would be to them, so we are retesting for both allergies in one year.
I'm also not to have any dairy or peanuts while breastfeeding. The doctor thinks that this will clear up Jude's eczema. No more lattes...good thing Jude is worth it!
It feels good to know what he's allergic to, even though I had prayed he wouldn't have any allergies. Now we just have to learn about what he can have instead of dairy, and hope he outgrows it really fast. And the poor guy will never know the taste of peanut butter.
On another note, today is Papa Martin's laser surgery for his cataracts. We hope it goes really well. I bet Jude will look even cuter now that you can see him better! Good luck Papa.
Enjoy your peanut butter milkshakes. Soy lattes here I come.

Hello Carolyn and all!
Just had to say that Jude and Norm can sit together when you are serving Peanut Butter. Norm can't eat it either. He isn't allergic but he can't stand to eat it. Mitch either!! Mitch can't even smell it!!
Hope all is well otherwise

well, i'm feeling very guilty for enjoying my latte and peanut butter oat bar...which, by the way, I ordered BEFORE I read the blog, and the unfortunate news. Oh well, there is a bright side...they make all sorts of "peanut-free" and "dairy-free" goodies now! By the way, Carolyn, I hear that the vanilla soy milk is excellent for lattes!
Looks like Jude is dreaming about milkshakes and the monkey is dreaming about peanuts, some things are just meant for dreams.....PaPa is looking at the blog at 3:30 and said Jude is much clearer already ...everything went well...ready for the next one
Sorry to hear about the milk and peanut allergy - they say soy milk is better for you anyway. As for the peanut allergy - well he can't have anything peanut related at school anyway, so you are just getting him prepared early! Tell Jude that I am very proud of him and pass along big hugs and kisses from his Auntie! Peanut free granola bars are just as good! Auntie Angie
