Lots of excitement!

Here's Jude anxiously awaiting the arrival of Auntie Shari and Uncle Simon from Victoria.

Of course this meant a visit to the Lego store for a little something for Jude.

Here's the final Knight Bus, with it's builder and "helper".

Uncle Simon spent a lot of time having to "craft" and entertain Jude, while Auntie Shari and I created the 2011 pumpkins for my front porch.

We all needed a nap after the crafting and pumpkin decorating!

Then after naps, there was even more excitement, but not the good kind.
Yes, this is Jude in an ambulance!
But from the smiles, you can see by this time the panic was over.
Unfortunately, Jude had a reaction to some chicken nuggets that I had fed him. He has been tolerating baked milk, but for some reason he had a different reaction than I've seen before after eating the nuggets. Normally if Jude ingests some milk products, he'll complain of being itchy in and around his mouth, he might even get some small hives. We treat this with Benadryl and normally all symptoms subside. This time he started complaining of a sore neck and then started saying that his throat hurt and was very upset by these feelings. I gave him some Benadryl, but the symptoms still persisted. I phoned Health Link to see what they recommended, since his breathing still seemed fine. They advised because of his age and the severity of his allergies that I call 911 and administer the epi-pen. I called 911, and again they strongly urged me to use the epi-pen. So with the help of Uncle Simon to hold Jude still, I had to be brave and face my worst fear....giving Jude the epi-pen. I think I had as much adrenaline running through me as Jude!!

The ambulance arrived, and they checked Jude out. Things were looking good, no hives or problems breathing, etc., but they needed to transport him to hospital for observation, since some reactions can reoccur after the epi-pen has worn off.

So off we went in the ambulance to the Children's Hospital.

They monitored all his vitals by his toe. (It was a very bumpy ride.)

Then we spent the next couple of hours crafting with the containers for people to vomit in. Playing with Uncle Simon's iPad.....

And colouring with Auntie Shari.

We were so thankful that they were visiting, as they really helped making the situation more manageable. I'm not sure I would have been able to handle it so well on my own.

The good news is that Jude is fine, I'm sure I'll recover soon too :)

Other exciting news, that doesn't involve ambulances, is that Dylan beat out Auntie Shari and Gramma Annie in Scrabble (not an easy feat). I think the Gramma doughnuts he ate were the secret weapon :) He's off to Belize on Thursday. It's been fun having Dylan stay with us, but I'm sure he's looking forward to warmer temperatures after being in the very cold basement.

Anything exciting happening with you?
